Dana and Dennis discussed the FAMMS (Financial Aid Multi-Media Showcase) launch, coming next week. More info to be posted on the CCCSFAAA website. We also talked about upcoming interviews over the next couple of weeks. Our Second Cup segment focused on SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) and NASFAA's State Advocacy Toolkit. Lastly, although Dana is holstering her "I Dare You To..." selection for next week, we somehow ended up talking about the new movie trailer for DUNE.

Dana and Dennis kept the conversation light today considering the need for recovery from a 3-day Labor Day weekend highlighted by 100+ degree temperatures across SoCal and much of the state.
We talked about a potential redesign of the show logo - expect to see it in service soon.
We also talked about the launch (finally!) of FAMMS - the Financial Aid Multi Media Showcase. An "Intent to Create" form WILL BE available on the CCCSFAAA website by the end of the week (Dennis promised this!).
Lastly, we covered a little news from the feds (via the NASFAA website), NASFAA (regarding their Ask Regs section), and some free training opportunities (posted on the CASFAA website).

Today we had our first interview: Anafe Robinson, Financial Aid Director at Pierce College and current president of CASFAA (California Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators). We talked about her path to FA Director and CASFAA president, the 2020 CASFAA conference, and other interests. Anafe shared her "I Dare You To Read" selection of Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown. Dennis concurred with her choice, as the book can also be found on his bookshelves.

We talked about a number of things today, including: the end of summer and start of fall semesters across the nation; year-round-Pell Grants; a free plug of the NASFAA "Off the Cuff" podcast; an article on Inside Higher Ed titled "A Tough Year at Community Colleges"; and a new brief from TICAS titled "What College Costs for Low-Income Californians, 2020". At the end of the show, Dana and Dennis started the making of a dream team list of interviewees for future episodes. Thundercat is always welcome to make a cameo on WBC!
